Who needs coffee anyhow!? Groups like BEHOLD... THE ARCTOPUS begin where EMERSON, LAKE, AND PALMER left off. This is crazy, not for the faint of heart, and most importantly fun. The instruments used are the lead drums, uranium guitar, and 12-string hellharp (check the website), and they all play and feed off one another with insane time signatures, rhythms, and tempos. Unlike many bands of the counting-beyond-numbers variety, these dudes are able to utilize the three distinct instruments within their own realm so instead of one wall of sound coming at you, you're faced with the rewarding experience of jumping around playing catchup to the different parts.
Maniacally technical music cannot be listened to for hours on end, so a two track 11-minute 3" CD is perfect for BEHOLD... THE ARCTOPUS. Recommended for anyone looking for highly talented, speedy, manic, and heavy instrumental metal.
