I recently picked up Beseech's "Sunless Days" and am surprised that they are so underrated. They are playing in the overcrowded atmospheric/melancholy metal genre, which doesn't help, but I think they shouldn't be overlooked by fans of that style. Lotta Hoglin, the female vocalist is the closest to Anneke Van Giersbergen that I have heard; overall I'd compare Beseech to "Mandylion"/"Nighttime Birds"-era Gathering without being a ripoff. Erik Molarin has one of the best voices for this style of music, with a deep, rich baritone that is reminiscent of Peter Steele at times and Jason Miller (there's a reference for Pellaz) at others. Unlike most bands of this kind, he's not doing the black/death metal-thing. I like black/death vocals but it's nice to hear something different from a band like this.

If you like bands like Within Temptation, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, et al., check these guys out.

Way to get my attention, there. Jason rules. :)

I thought I had a Beseech promo CD here, but a search didn't turn it up. <grumble>

It's interesting, I grabbed "Souls Highway" when it came out, listened and enjoyed it once and then shelved it. Then when I was going through my CDs I found it, put it on, and wondered why it didn't grab me more on that first listen.

"Souls highway" is for me, the best CD of this band.... really enjoyable

Yes, most certainly the best. The cover of Gimme Gimme Gimme on the bonus tracks for that is a great listen, too.
I'm not really into their new CD. I don't know if they got new guy singing or if Erik Molarin just changed his way of singing but now he sounds like the guy from HIM.

Rutvhen- why am I not surprised you are starting this topic oon one of the bands I like the best in the genre!
I started listening since Souls ighway and have been hooked ever since. I guess they are not known, because they never play gigs anywhere xcept for Sweden. They have only played in Holland once- it's a damn shame.
I think that Beseech are the best cross over between metal and pop I ever heard. And in this respect pop is not a dirty word!!!!

"...After a decade out of the spotlight, Swedish goth metallers Beseech will release a new album, My Darkness, Darkness. It is set to be released on March 4th, 2016. They have release an official video for the new track, "Highwayman", which can be viewed below:

"Beseech proudly presents their new video for the legendary tune, 'Highwayman'. Swedish director Albin Glasell and Angelina from Beseech in front of the camera are taking us on a journey through stormy solitude and the dark beauty of Scandinavian isolation. A tribute to the force of nature and control over mankind...."

Wow, Beseech. There’s another band I haven’t thought about in a long time. I also remember listening to Souls Highway a bunch back when it came out. This new one sounds very promising.
