Hi! I would like to know what is the best adjustment to corret this small mistakes in vocals using autotune in automatic mode. I Know that I must adjust key and scale, but I don't know what is the best setting for "retune" and "tracking" controls for the best results.

Thanks!

I would recommend fixing things by hand (highlighting a piece of audio, and printing the tuner to it)... It doesn't take very long, and then you know for certain that the tuner hasn't done anything you don't want it to do.

Agreed. The rate of the correction that you'll want depends alot on the part so graphic is the only way to go.

Aaron dude can you go into a little more detail how you do this ? i think i know what you mean but not for sure....

i love auto tune for a fix here and there...nothing to crazy and its really only needed here and there .

thanks

i dont know, i think a little autotune is necessary to get that shimmering perfect harmony sound, lots of bands want it nowadays anyway

Bypass activated, rec in "on" position and better take.

Like the one dude said its really not about totally fixing notes, it seems like it give's the vocals a nice smooth sound.......

its a sound people are wanting

you do like the dude from Toxic grind machine, the last song that bob posted
there is autotune all over the clean vocals there and i think that sounds good

i think melodyne is WAY better than auto tune.

Melodyne destroys the fidelity of the source though. It reminds me of a bad mp3 rip on a low bitrate...

"I'm the dude...man, so that's what you call me...okay?" :p

Yeah, you're right, I use AT for the smooth type-of sound quality then I do for it's immaculate pitch correction. It seems to go well with Bob's music.

prove it.

and a lot of bands want to use beat detective and limit their CD:s agains Waves L2, but those aims for "perfect sonic landscape" really take the soul out of the recordings, because life really isn't ever perfect. I still say fuck autotune and fuck beat detective. Eventho the new Metallica album is clipped as hell, the fact that you can hear the mistakes Lars played, it gives a little bit of more soul to the record, so you know a man played them instead of quantized machine.

All due respect, the OP's question is about setting recommendations, not opinions about processing as a whole. Let's please stay on topic and try help the OP.

find the scale they're singing in, if necessary deselect notes that you know are wrong. Then tweak the tune speed and humanize knob. Turn off the vibrato setting, turn on targeting ignores vibrato. keep tweaking until it sounds natural.

soul???? if i want some soul i will go to church on sunday or listen to some R&B.....i on the other hand want my music to be souless
soul is the last thing i think about when it comes to metal music....but i understand what you are saying too in fairness

unrest sorry dude i didnt know your name right at that time
but i was just pointing out how some ppl with bash autotune and say how awesome the vocal work is on that burn bright, wry jackal(?) song
used right like it is there Sounds Awesome, IMO......im sure your pretty on key anyways to begin with ......its just the solid underlining note

prove it.

No worries man. I don't care if you know my name...I just thought it would be a great moment to quote The Big Lebowski.

Find the best setting for yourself as long as you understand what does each parameter

Retune: How fast the tuning starts to work. Its like the attack of a compressor. Move it all the way right and you get cher sound, all the way left and the tuning will be too late

Tracking: How much tuning its working. All the way right its like having the Ratio on a compressor on 1:1, and all the way left the opposite

i disagree. i've noticed every now and then there might be a weird artifact in one part of the audio (usually if the singer hits some really off note), but when i import and export the audio in 24bit 48kHz wav format, there's no overall loss in quality of my audio.
