They've had one in the Best Buy near me for like 6 months now. They actually have some pretty good stuff in there but out of habit I keep going to GC cause it happens to be in the next parking lot from there

Weird.. Every GC around here has a Best Buy within 200 feet of it. Maybe OP is right and they're owned by the same company.

maybe but wouldn't that be a little self defeating? I mean, they're basically being their own competition. Sure all the end results would go to the same mother company, but they could potentially be driving down the sales at one of their own stores
maybe its just a 7-11 , Wawa type of thing. Every corner has one, and the opposite corner seems to have the other

IIRC, Best Buy and GC are not owned by the same parent corp. Best Buy entered the MI business a couple years ago, but in the last year have really pushed it in some markets. You can see the stores with full music departments on the BB site. There only a few select stores with the MI "store" built in.
Some reports have said they have a pretty nice stock in some locations, giving GC and Sam Ash a serious run for their money in what is on the walls, and the staff seem to be well versed in the product lines they carry.
No BB's in Indiana have the MI "store" in them, so I've never seen one first hand.
