The result was a clear disappointment for Gephardt. Industrial unions provided the backbone for Gephardt's campaign in Iowa. A labor source told CNN that it was "pretty clear" that he was not able to expand beyond that base.

"There wasn't the enthusiasm for Dick," the source said.

i am too, amanda! like WHOA i thought kerry was going to get like 6%?

my cubemate says that kerry is unelectable because of his unbelievably easy-to-caricature looks. no eyes! giant chin! craggy new englander!

i have to say i'd rather kerry come in first than gephardt.
one of my coworkers pronounced his name "GEH-FART" a little while ago. he was being serious.

haha i did that without knowing, about three weeks ago! my cubemate snickered for a bit and then finally told me that she didn't think he appreciated that pronunciation.

i also called "Robert Reich" (pronounced RIESH) "Robert Reich" (pronounced RIEK) for a while. i'm sure he didn't like that, either.

i prefer Kerry to Gephardt slightly, but I didn't know much about Gephardt other than he was a big labor guy, which made me like him. i know he used to be anti-gay-marriage but i think he made a reversal of that in just the past few months.

i'm wary of Kerry for the military reasons, but a lot less wary than i am of Clark. and Kerry, domestically, is quite demonstrably liberal (unlike Clark). and as far as i can tell he doesn't support a fucking flag-burning amendment.

the only issue i really have with kerry is the death penalty but it seems like everyone wants to electrocute and/or gas people nowadays.
