Trying to get a friend setup with a basic recording rig for his demos.
Now I'm looking into Toontrack's stuff since a lot of you guys rave about it, the promotional videos sound good. I never use software like that because I'm a drummer myself.

Thanks!

audiodeluxe, i got metal amchine for 30$ a few days ago. create an account, log in and then add to cart to get a special deal.

Holly molly!!!
I thought there isn't place to get it cheaper that toontrack itself. Now I have new favorite stores!!!
BTW: When is black friday?

Just bought ezDrummer from Audio Deluxe for 29,-! Nice deal.
How suitable are the ezDrummer Midi's that are included in this standard package for metal/rock kinda music?

if you're not gonna get Metal Machine expansion for it I would suggest at least buying a couple of the midi packs they sell for like $20 or whatever

specifically metal machine or DFH ... between one of those along with the standard midi grooves already included that should be more than adequate to start with for anything metal / rock related ... especially with the standard EZ drummer rock kit with is highly underrated I think for its sound

I wouldn't even bother buying DFH expansion just cause the drums sound like ass but the midi grooves are pretty useful.

Thanks. I already thought of maybe buying the metal machine midi pack, but i wasn't sure if it would work without the expansion pack, so from what I understand it does?

It's actually not be bought specificly for the sound. It's nice to have good sounding kit in there, and that's what this does. It's for my friend (guitar player) and he wants his demos to be supported by some basic drums, but if metal machine has some cool licks in there and it works without the expansion, then it's probably worth it.

I think you'd get a "stripped down" version of the actual grooves for at least most of them I believe. I'm pretty sure the Metal Machine kit has more drums than the standard rock kit so yeah, some shit would probably either be missing or just doubled up on another drum but there's a good amount that would be fine. Honestly, especially today, best to just get the Metal Machine EZX and call it a day ... can't imagine your buddy would need much more than that for writing / demoing stuff and with the size of the metal machine kit you're guaranteed to get full use of anything from the extreme metal midi libraries if he chooses to get some later

EDIT: ok just checked, yeah best to get Metal Machine full expansion and not just the midi pack. Standard rock kit has only 3 toms

metal machine has 5 and a shitload more cymbals

I would get ez drummer with metal machine if I were you. You can get it so cheap and it sounds great. But who knows what deal with go on with the Slate stuff. I'm hoping trigger gets a crazy sale Monday.
