Opeth's Ghost Reveries is BY FAR AND AWAY the best album of 2005! At first, there was no way I thought they'd manage to create such an impressive album after first hearing TGC, but damn...this album is way up there alongside classics like Still Life and MAYH.

This album beats the shit out of anything I've heard since Close to a World Below.

I wouldn't necessarily go that far, but it's definitely their best work to date and the best this year, with Crimson Massacre and Nokturnal Mortum completing the podium. Nile, Macabre Omen, Adramelech, Mortem and a couple of others are also worth looking into.
