Ya they are pretty much the same, but like you said one has a "bit tacked onto the beginning". I've always considered there's two versions (for lack of a better term), even though they are pretty much the same.

My friends told me they closed a show with it, at a show we went to on the ATL tour in 1987. And the kicker is they did it with Kirk Hammet. I missed I got thrown out during Caugth In A Mosh.
