So I read yesterday about InsideOut signing Bigelf and that Mike Portnoy will be drumming with them. I also read that the particular year "Cheating the Gallows" came out, Portnoy said it was hands down his fav album.
Hm, who are these Bigelf fellows... So I pulled them up on Spotify, listened to two songs, ordered both their albums immediately.
LOVED it, every song on the album. For those that haven't heard them I would describe their sound as:
Beatles + Black Sabbath + splash of Rocky Horror, stir, add in a little Ayreon and then a pinch of (can't quite place the missing ingredient...something exotic...).
For those that are familiar with them, chime in if you have a better way of describing them.
This is a video of theirs although it is not representative of the album, the album is literally all over the place sound wise but it's also very cohesive.
I saw someone describe them as "if Tim Burton did a remake of Sgt. Pepper" - and I can definitely see that!
