As the drummer of one of the most influential heavy metal bands in history, Ward was an integral force in the creation of the heavy metal genre. Known as the godfather of heavy metal drumming, he has inspired and influenced countless drummers who have followed. A sure moment of pride in Ward's life came in 2000 when he, along with the rest of the original lineup of BLACK SABBATH, was honored with a long-overdue Grammy Award. Master bass player, songwriter and vocalist Glenn Hughes has remained one of heavy metals most revered artists. In 1973, Hughes joined DEEP PURPLE.
