Just heard on the Radio Billy Thorpe died this morning after a heart attack .

AUSSIE rock icon Billy Thorpe, who died today from a heart attack, was recording "the album of his career", he revealed in his last major interview.
Thorpe, who worked most nights at his Surry Hills recording studio, told Daily Telegraph Music Editor Kathy McCabe he hoped to finish a rock opera he had been recording with the Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra - both here and in Morocco - later this year.
The gentleman rocker, who was behind memorable benefits for ailing rockers and their dependents, was also planning a major charity concert in Sydney in late 2007 to set up a foundation to care for peers who had fallen on hard times.
So his death, announced early today, came as a major shock.
"Mr Billy Thorpe did pass away at St Vincent's Hospital in the early hours of this morning," St Vincent's spokesman David Faktor said.
"I understand he passed away from a heart attack. His family were with him when he passed away."
