Ok so I am enjoying Dissection, Watain, Immortal and I guess you could chuck the last two Necrophobic albums in as well (if you call them black or are they blackened death?)

I enjoyed the "Carving A Giant" clip by Gorogoroth on Youtube so will grab their cd as well...

Can you reccomend me some other must haves?

Say 10 CD's?

The Gorgoroth clip would probably be my limit sound quality wise, so none of the lo-def trve kvlt stuff that sounds like it was made on a 1960's cassette records please, I respect that a lot of people like that style but it's just soooo not for me.

Thanks :D

Peste Noire - La Sanie des siecles
Gris - Il etait un foret
Deathspell Omega - Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice
Antaeus - Cut Your Flesh and Worship Satan or Blood Libels
Mayhem - Ordo ad Chao (or De Mysteriis dom Sathanas if you haven't heard that classic yet)
Mgla - Groza
Clandestine Blaze - Church of Atrocity
Abyssic Hate - Suicidal Emotions

those are some off the top of my head that I enjoy and aren't too 'lo-fi'. Before dismissing some of the stuff with that sound, make sure you check out many of the classics too, even though they don't have an immediately pleasing sound to the ears, such as Emperor's In The Nightside Eclipse (though you'll probably enjoy the production on Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk a lot more), all of Burzum's material, Immortal's Pure Holocaust and to a lesser extent Battles in the North and Blizzard Beasts, Darkthrone's A Blaze in the Northern Sky, Under A Funeral Moon, Transylvanian Hunger, and Panzerfaust, Samael's Worship Him and Blood Ritual, Rotting Christ's Thy Mighty Contract, Varathron's His Majesty at the Swamp, Graveland's Carpathian Wolves and Thousand Swords, the first couple Master's Hammer albums, Sacramentum's Far Away from the Sun, etc...

just do a search here or on the metal archives board for 'classic black metal albums' and
