Black Metal Fatwa

Malaysian Islamic Officials have issued a fatwa against black metal music.

I wonder why just black metal, and not death, or just plain heavy? And does it include "Symphonic Black" or "Melodic Black"?

Darkthrone used to make some pretty good stuff too. Their first album isnt even black metal its old school death metal. If anyone likes that stuff they should check out darkthrones first album.

Dark Throne... I just caught them on Rage.



I was expecting it to be bad, but it was just bad on a whole different level to what I was expecting. I can't understand how anyone, anywhere could like that stuff. To my ears it was completely without merit. Even when sandwiched inbetween a whole heap of other bands that didn't impress me, it stood out head and shoulders above anything else in terms of badness.

I had a Dark Throne promo disc once in the mid-late 1990s. It was so bad I gave it away. In fact, I was willing to pay for postage in order for someone else to take it off my hands.

On the thread topic, maybe the fatwa people read some of the shit Varg wrote? I wonder if they could distinguish between the different sorts of metal anyway. Perhaps the spikes on people at gigs would give them away.
