Even Though OZZY OSBOURNE Says He “Can’t Walk,” SHARON Says “His Voice Is As Good As It’s Ever Been”

"...Speaking with The Sun, Ozzy’s wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, says, “He’s very happy to be coming back and very emotional about this. Parkinson’s is a progressive disease. It’s not something you can stabilise. It affects different parts of the body and it’s affected his legs. But his voice is as good as it’s ever been.”

In an interview with the BBC, Sharon Osbourne revealed that Ozzy, who has largely been forced to stop touring due to a combination of Parkinson’s and spinal injuries, was determined to put on one final show...."

I saw Black Sabbath live in concert in the fall of 1978 in St Louis at what they called the Checkerdome back then. Still have the ticket stub from that one. Incredible performance with the original lineup. The guy sitting next to me was tripping balls. Kept screaming G-D & finally ripped his glasses off and stomped on them. While I'm on my tour of memory lane... Also saw Judas Priest in Spring 1979 at Kiel Auditorium (I think) also in St Louis. Good times. 🤘 Back then we had no idea we were witnessing music history.

Back then we had no idea we were witnessing music history.
I started seeing bands live in 2004 and I'm not sure if I've witnessed any significant music history yet. 😁 I did actually witness the first time Sabbath ever played material from 13 live given they started their 2013 tour here in Auckland.

It's interesting seeing bands start out playing to very small crowds when they go on to play to much bigger shows later. I saw New Zealand bands such as Ulcerate, The Beths and Alien Weaponry play some very small shows and now they're big overseas. I saw Ripship's 1st ever show at a house party in 2018 before they were known as Ripship, and then last December I saw them support a sold out Jack White show (1,000 capacity, not that everyone turns up in time for the support act). Hopefully they keep getting bigger!

@Bloopy Whoa dude longtime no see. Been a couple years, but then maybe I'm just not paying attention. I remember our covid discussions. Hey, we both made it through!

You have some great memories. How was Alien Weaponry back then?

Have you ever seen an electronica band called Pitch Black? I think they're from New Zealand.

I don't find much to post in this section other than occasionally updating your Bandcamp Friday thread. I didn't see Alien Weaponry until early 2017 when they already had some singles out and had started to gain some real traction. The council booked them to play a free show in a smallish city square during the day. Quite a small turnout, mostly just a bunch of people sitting around chilling. I recall the band sounding good though. I also saw their debut album launch show in 2018. I was starting to find them a bit underwhelming though, and their events didn't help the cause. Like, they'd often just book one weak support act (instrumental on this occasion) and then they played some of their documentary on the projector. No regrets about giving them a chance though. I got the album as I thought the stuff was ok and I had a music store voucher to use up. I didn't like their 2nd album but I'll give the 3rd one a try.

I know Pitch Black, mostly just their first two albums which I find alright. They played a festival I attended in 2008. I walked into the tent where they were playing, decided after a minute that their live sound wasn't my thing at all at the time, and walked back out again. So basically I've laid eyes on them, but I don't count them as an act I've seen!
