Bleeding Edge is a music project conceived in 2023 by Carl Fulli, bringing together classic elements of thrash metal and death metal infused with a modern sound. As a veteran of the Bay Area music scene of the 1980s & 90s, Carl was the vocalist of Metal Blade Records artists Epidemic, who released two albums – 1992’s Decameron and 1994’s Exit Paradise and toured in support of those records. After the breakup of Epidemic, moving to the greater Sacramento area and having a family, the urge to create metal returned with a passion.
After 30 years Carl returns with a four song EP entitled The Devils Door, a self-released package of crushing drums, energetic tempos, and heavy as hell riffs inspired by the likes of Slayer, Obituary, old School Metallica, Sepultura, and the Bay Area scene.
Joining Carl on the project is Scott Sargeant (Skinlab/M.O.D./Laaz Rockit) on guitar and bass, with Lennon Lopez (Incite) on drums, along with the lead guitar skills of Kosta Varvatakis (Hatriot) and Kevy Rojas (By Any Means Necessary). Produced by Scott Sargeant and mixed by Juan Urteaga (Testament/Machine Head/Etc.) at Trident studios, The Devil’s Door is moving towards the future of thrash/death metal while keeping a firm grip of history.
Carl states, “The goal was to create music in the vain of old school thrash and death with production that has the vibe and feel of the 1980’s, but with the clarity and impact of today’s standards.“
With the digital and physical release scheduled for Friday (February 28), the first single, “Frostbite” is out now and can be viewed below. The track is available all of the major streaming platforms. The new EP can be pre-ordered here.
Being a do-it-yourself release, Bleeding Edge is keeping the old school vibe alive by self-releasing the EP in a nod to the tape trading days of the 1980’s, while utilizing today’s modern technology to reach a wider audience. PLAY IT LOUD!!!
