There is a Death metal festival in Baltimore, MD every year. This year it is on May 23rd, 24th, and 25th. I checked Opeth's touring plans for this year, and they are touring with Dream Theater in May. They are performing on the 23rd and 24th, and they are both off-dates, I believe. So, the 25th is open, and the night after the 25th, Opeth is in Washington, DC, which is close to Baltimore! This would be perfect. Katatonia's schedule is cleared out until late June, so it would be a great fit in my opinion.

What do you think?

E-mail the people, and see if this creates enough buzz to get them to do something. If I had to oppourtunity to at least try and book the biggest Death metal band right now, I would certainly do so.

It would be nice but you can't simply add a band especially a big band this close to the fest. Plus, the full lineup is set already.

Plus, Although some of Bloodbath members will already be over here, it would mean having to pay for the remaining members to fly over.

It actually wouldn't have been a half bad idea if all the information was known back at the end of 2007 such as Opeth already being in the area.

I am not sure though what the guys in Bloodbath would have asked to have been paid for their one performance as it isn't like Ryan and Evan are raking in the money. Plus, they spend much of it to fly so many killer underground bands.

Yeah, I thought about the money thing, and the closeness of the show as well. Nice idea to throw around, I guess. It would have been bad ass though if they could make the appearance at this fest. Another problem would be that it would sell out so fast for one day, that a lot of other people would probably get shut out. I have not been to Sonar, but I imagine that it is not that large.
