Blunkett considering thought-crime laws

an interesting concept, but i think it's too difficult to make it work for anyone but the film-makers.
i just skimmed through the article, i'll read it with attention when i have some time; for sure they could have chosen a better pic of blunkett :ill:

Yeah...this is a really messy area, and one the US is involved in as well to a degree with items like the patriot act. See, these leaders are tasked with preventing terrorist attacks, but these suicidal terrorists have no regard for their own lives so the usual thoughts of consequences for their actions do not apply. I can see where we have to be creative in trying to find ways to stop these people, because once they've committed the crime, its too late. The assault on terrorism has to be preemptive if lives are to be spared, but its also incredibly dangerous for the cause of liberty because as always, Government by its nature lends itself to expansion, but hardly ever contracts, and once we get used to these kinds of tactics, what's to say that more power hungry officials don't come along and incrementally push it further and further? This is one of those things that is just really difficult to jump to one side or the other on because we have to save the lives of our people from terrorism, but we can't lose liberty in the process...:erk:

the job of preventing attacks has to be the hardest in the world. especially with an enemy like the middle eastern terrorists. i support the patriot act and i think if brittian did somthing similar it wouldnt be bad, like many claim it will be. when you think about it, the government is way to busy to look after everyone, they are only gonna look after those who are a threat and follow their ties to whomever.

it really is a hard subject and it is incredibly sad that we have to even think about these sorts of policies. but some people are scum and they have to cause problems.

there is only one solution to terrorist threats from the middle east. and that is to turn the place into one gigantic hole in the ground haha
