Yeah, it is scalloped.

If you like this kind of technique, you might want to check out Adam Fulara (just ignore the stupid faces he makes while playing ), he has a couple of videos on his website. He basically does 8-finger tapping on a double neck guitar. This allows him to do completely independent melody lines, kind of like what you can do on a piano. One of the first (and my favourite) guitarists to use this kind of technique (albeit, on a single-neck guitar) is Stanley Jordan (by the way, check out the second guitarist's style ).

The second guitar player in that Stanley Jordan video has the most perfect example of early 90's "cool" look and style I have ever seen. Just check out his food tapping movement about half-way through.
