we were at a mall around here the other day and saw the "spring bunny" taking the easter bunny's place. wtf!! and he's ugly too. he's not a bunny, he's a rabbit. a plain ugly brown rabbit with a vest. no fun!
and now i read its happening in texas too, so its probably happening everywhere.

Spring Bunny is bullshit.

Eostre was the Saxon version of the Germanic Goddess Ostara. The Christian name of Easter and that of oestrogen derives from it and coincides with the date of the Catholic Easter. The legend goes like this: Eostre found a wounded bird and in order to save its life she turned it into a rabbit. But the transformation was not complete as the bird that looked like a rabbit indeed but it still had the ability to lay eggs. These were painted by her worshippers and brought to Eostre as a gift.
