Boston. Love 'em or hate 'em???? I know they're not "metal" per se, but Tom Scholz plays guitar like a mother and has some great "metallic" riffs, saturated in distortion and chorus. Just curious what you guys think....I LOVE 'EM!!!!!!!!!

I love the first two albums. I rmember what a sensation the first Boston album caused. They had two big hits here in the Netherlands in the late 70s. I love most of the 70s rock and hard rock bands. That was a great period leading up to the NWOBHM :headbang:

Bostons sound, especially onthe guitars ,was pretty special. No one sounded like that in th 70s. The Songwriting was great, but then again they took enough time in between records to make it that way

Too long sometimes .. like 9 years per album? ... :erk: :ill:

Not their biggest fan. I like "Peace of Mind","More than A Feeling"(though radio has kinda killed it a bit),"Foreplay/Longtime"(gotta love that intro!), and "Don't Look Back", but that's really it. I found their debut to be a bit overrated. I don't dislike them by any means, i just don't agree with most people's opinions about them, especially in regards to their debut.

For a time I really enjoyed the 1st album. My tastes have changed & I'm not that keen on their overpolished sound anymore, but it is a pretty remarkable album. I thought the 2nd album was a big step down from the 1st album.

Shit, I haven't listened to that debut for a criminally long time! Over two years! Must rectify that soon cos it is STUNNING!

Those first two albums were hard rock gems in my opinion. Absolutely fant-fucking-tastic. There was a period of time in the 80s when I just couldn't listen to them anymore because of overexposure at parties and on radio, but I was able to play them again in the 90s and re-live my initial enjoyment of the debut and Don't Look Back.

How about them Red Sox?!
Or the Celtics?
No Bruins this year...
Boston...
I always thought they were like an REO Speedwagon type band...

Boston College has got a Top 10 hoops team... their football team did pretty well too. Seems like everybody from Boston is winning this year (except for John Kerry).

Tom Schultz was an absolute genious at music. The guy practically is an acoustic engineer anyway, but his tones and production he was able to create 30 years ago are still being chased today by many producers and recording engineers. Aside from the pure aural aspect of it, the songs were catchy and very well written as well. Though the hit songs suffered from a little too much overexposure, from the classic rock radio stations, they are still great songs. They have always been one of my favorite bands from the 70's and still are. The "wall of sound" they produced still sounds amazing to this day.
