boycotting elections is one of the lamer ways of making a point

It's a confusing situation.

Serbian President Boris Tadic encouraged Serbs to vote, with demands that a local Serb-led government, which would include, educational, health, and law enforcement institutions, be formed in communities that are made up of a Serbian majority.

And if the international organziations (UNMIK, KFOR, etc) don't implement that within 90 days of the formation of the Kosovo government, then all Serbian representatives would give their resignations.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Kostunica along with the Serbian government and the Serbian Orthodox Church, and a whole bunch of Kosovo organizations called for a boycott of the elections, (Well Kostunica can't by law call for a boycott of an election taking place within the country as PM, so he just said that voting wasn't encouraged, which is the same thing) some saying that the only purpose of these elections is to give the Albanian led government legitimacy and others stating that they wouldn't encourage Serbs to vote without certain guarantees first, Serb led local government, security for Serb minorities, etc.

In my opinion the international community failed again by not being able to get rid of the protesters standing outside the voting headquarters all around Kosovo that weren't let people vote and threatening them.

I mean for chirst's sake, if the UN can't take care of this and allow people to cast a vote they are pretty fucking worthless as an international presence there.
