SOULFLY's CAVALERA Appreciates U.S. Troops' Efforts In Iraq - Mar. 21, 2003
SOULFLY frontman Max Cavalera, currently on the road in Europe to promote the band's "3" CD, has seen Europe's reaction to the world's events, and has also run into some of America's armed forces along the way.
"We saw many things like the Militar...Presence de Militar (military) in places like the Vatican that we visited and in Athens," Cavalera said. "The security is much more improved. Also we saw a little bit not too much of protests, people protesting (the war) and stuff."
Cavalera, a Brazilian native who now lives in Arizona, talked about catching up with U.S. troops in Europe and expressing his gratitude. "We met some soldiers who were actually going to the war. They were fans, they came to the show, I signed some CDs for them, I wrote, 'God bless you and best of luck.' I really feel those guys...I really owe a lot to them for really going there to do the best and to prevent Iraq, and to keep our safety at home, and I told that to them as well."
SOULFLY's European tour ends in Angers, France on March 28. A U.S. tour with E-TOWN CONCRETE and SWORN ENEMY is scheduled to kick off on April 11 at the Roxy in West Hollywood, California.
