I can't even begin to tell you how awesome this apartment we're (hopefully) moving into is.

- 2 floors
- privately owned by the people that live on the first floor who are
* a woman that likes alice cooper and punk rock
* her french husband, who is country french, not dickhead french
* their 5 year old son who speaks a wierd french/english mix and likes to spin around really fast and then fall down
* their 4 month old ardale terrier

- they apologized that there was a doorknob thatdidn't match the rest of the doorknobs in the house
- screen porch
- utilities included
- better, hipper location
- STILL cheaper than current ratbox!!
- rent would be $666 a month per person \m/

i know what that fixture is.

it's weird how sometimes you can just find apts that are way better than the norm. the one we rented last october in chicago was in the ultra hip and expensive lincoln park area, right on halsted street, and it was $1200 for a 3-br with new hardwood floors, 2 full bathrooms, and parking for 3 cars. that's crazy for any area in chicago, but for that area, it's ludicrous.

My gf's apartment in Brooklyn had unfinished wood floors, rats in the walls, walls so thin that people bringing their bikes in would knock stuff off her shelves, and was a *major* fire hazard: only one exit, bars on all the windows, and the one exit's doorknob broke off, so the only way to leave was by using a pair of pliers. On the upside, the walls were so thin that if there *was* a fire, you could pretty much leave the building Hulk-style.
