So I've been trying to get my hands on a 5150 for a little while now and I thought I finally had one in the bag from a guy on craigslist. But he ended up pawning it for something at a local pawnshop.
It's a 5150 combo, and he told me in a email prior to the pawning, "I replaced the power tubes and one bad preamp tube and it sounded great." So I was guessing it was in decent shape.
He told me which pawn shop he pawned it at so I went and checked it out.
Now I'm not a tube amp guru, but I'm guessing either one of the fuses or tubes had gone bad, because when I plugged in and turned it on everything that came out was at a very very low volume. Even after cranking it up.
The guy at the pawn shop is offering it at a pretty low price, being as how he doesn't have a clue how to work on amps.
So my question is,
Is this something serious (if you can just guess by my vague description)? Or just a simple fix (like a tube or fuse)? And would it be worth fixing up?
Thanks guys for all the help I've gotten on this forum.
