Illinois death metallers BROKEN HOPE recently overhauled their lineup by adding bassist Diego Soria (DISGORGE) and guitarist Matt Szlachta (DIRGE WITHIN, CHIMAIRA).Says BROKEN HOPE guitarist Jeremy Wagner: "I'm far beyond delighted with our new members — Diego and Matt. Both of these guys are old friends of mine, and both are amazing musicians of the highest order. Diego's history with extreme death metallers DISGORGE and Matt's contributions to CHIMAIRA bring a new level of professionalism and brutality to BROKEN HOPE. Moreover, Diego and Matt possess a true love for death metal and grind. Their passion for extreme metal was something their predecessors lacked, and it's a most welcome adrenaline shot that BROKEN HOPE needed badly."He adds: "See you all in 2015 — stronger and sicker than ever!"A photo of the new BROKEN HOPE lineup can be seen above (photo credit: Tom Hane).Bassist Shaun Glass and guitarist Chuck Wepfer left BROKEN HOPE in December to concentrate on their new band, THE BLOODLINE. Glass told BLABBERMOUTH.NET in a statement: "We have been very focused and busy with our main band THE BLOODLINE so much that we haven't had any time to be part of BROKEN HOPE for the last 4-5 months as we can't commit to two bands 100 percent. That said, we aren't a part of BROKEN HOPE anymore, but we wish them and their new members, Matt Szlachta and Diego Soria, the best with what they do."BROKEN HOPE's sixth album, "Omen Of Disease", sold around 1,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. Issued on October 1, 2013 (September 30, 2013 internationally) via Century Media Records, the CD's drum tracks were laid down at Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisconsin with engineer Chris Wisco (LAZARUS A.D., JUNGLE ROT, ORIGIN, GORGASM), while the remaining instruments were tracked at Mercenary Digital Studios in Zion, Illinois with engineer Scott Creekmore (DIRGE WITHIN, PUTRID PILE, LIVIDITY).Photo credit: Tom Hane
