Not that I want to buy one... just out of curiousity, has anyone tried them?

Lots of people bash on the Bugera gear, but I had to try one of the 412 cabs for myself (I don't trust 'forum experts') and compare it against my other 412 cabs. (got it really F'n cheap on CL)

The Bugera vs the Marshall 1960a: Well as everyone has read, the Bugera is darker, more bottom end, almost like when you push the 'Deep' button on a DSL. The mids and top end are much more subdued than in the 1960. A simple tweak of a presence and mid control can make up for what it doesn't have, so no big deal there, but it is still a different animal.

After playing through the Bugera then switching to the 1960, the Marshall sounds thin & really bright with no bottom end, but don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Marshall cabs and would never part with them, but all the bad press about the Bugera is not 100% true, it just has a different sound, maybe heavier than the Marshall and they are dirt cheap even brand new, so for many they are an excellent option.

Anyone could make it sound good if they have even the slightest control of their tone. Even the DSL sounds great through it, once set up and I have a Peavey Valveking that I've tried through it as well, but since the Peavey is a bit darker than the DSL's I have, the Presence, mid & treble on the VK need to be set fairly high for my liking, but all in all, the Bugera cab has balls and can sound good with the right head and the right guy turning knobs. It sounds great when paired with one of my Valvestate 8280 combos, this is a good mix, since the VS has a brighter sound with no bottom end. The cab is stereo too, so it was a great match for the stereo 8280.

I have other 412 cabs with different speakers and the Bugera is just a bit darker and heavier sounding than all of them, but again, a few tweaks & not bad at all.

Bugera may have gotten some of it's bad rep from the Behringer bashers from all the crappy Behringer stuff out there, but the reality is, their products are a decent cheap alternative to the 'real' gear. My suggestion to anyone who has never tried one is to rent one, borrow one or whatever, but play it before you comment on it at least. I've surprised many of my friends who walk in and see the name & make some comment about it being crap, then when they play through this cab and they get to compare it side by side with half a dozen other cabs, they at least have a different view.

As always, YMMV.

Blue ... thats entirely an invalid statement in every way.....

Being the some what Bugera expert around these parts nowadays I can tell you that the "Darkness" Blue is talking about is due to complete and utter SHIT build quality. Puttina good condenser in front of a Bugera revels all the SHIT sounds coming out of the cab. Plain and simple poor build quality. For the same price if you are in the US you can get an Avatar that is FAR SUPERIOR and if you are overseas you can get a Harley Benton that will completely slay the Bugera.

The heads are excellent for the money as long as you don't plan on touring with them, the cabs suck donkey balls.

The Bugera cabs are equiv to the marshall avt cabs or actually now that I think about..a lil worse..No definition, the louder you crank it, the worse they sound.. i tried a Bugera 6262 into one, the plugged the 6262 into a mesa oversize..Like night and day man!
