Swiss all-female heavy metal band Burning Witches has issued the following news regarding their founder and rhythm guitarist Romana Kalkuhl:
“We are super thrilled to announce you that our Queen of Riffs, the keeper of the coven and the heart of the Band, Romana is expecting a Baby this Autumn. Let us congratulate her for her success in stepping into the world of motherhood.
Romana will still be playing for our 10th Year Anniversary Shows at Estrich Winistorf and Met-Bar Lenzburg (on April 25th and 26th). She will be BACK as soon as she can and will always be READY TO FIGHT!!! So, no worries Folks!
In the meantime, we are excited to welcome our longtime friend and amazing guitarist, Simone Van Straten, who will temporarily step in to cover Romana’s duties. Simone will join us for all upcoming shows and tours until Romana is ready to return.”
Romana, pictured below, has commented:
“It’s not easy to leave the girls alone for a while, but we live only once, and it’s time for me to start my own family!
I formed Burning Witches, it’s my absolute dream and I will definitely be back on stage after my maternity leave.
The girls will continue to rock! I will still be working behind them, but not on stage. Thanks to Simone for helping out till I am back.
See you soon and stay Metal!”
