So surprisingly enough to me, there isn't a thread for BYD's comeback release "Mosh n Roll". But i guess this isssssssss a METAL \m/ forum haha. NPI. Anyway, anyone like this mix? or know anything other than it was done at the brick hit house? I know that guitars were slims 5150 and his Xtone stuffed with a towel being that he gave me that info straight. But anyone else know anything else?

Seriously some things I noted about the mix:

1. Fucking goofy sounding reverb on the vocals. Seriously they don't sound like they belong on the songs. Who decided putting them in an entirely different room from the song was a good idea?
2. REALLY narrow stereo field, listen to You Had Me At Hello (any song), or honestly listen to anything else on there discography and then listen to a track on Mosh, shit has a fucking narrow stereo field.

The mix is shot. I agree with that. It's just so cluttered. I couldn't believe it was done at BHH. I'm hoping the next record will be better. The drums are boring too, doesn't sound like he drummed on it at all. Maybe drumming for cross fade will do that to you? Idk, but even though they said mark recorded I'm thinking they just mapped them out. That's just me though. Mark is a badass. Drums on the record are NOT played like a badass

Yeah, not digging this mix at all either. A lot of Mediaskare's bands have terrible mixes. They dislike bands that don't sound "natural" in their records and they turn down bands that use triggers haha

Fuckin ricky...

I'm gonna grab that screen cap right now.

Found it:

Problem is their music is boring as all hell. Sorry, but I feel like they're just a watered down It Prevails with a tad of The Ghost Inside in them. I have to admit though, their Sandlot music video is pretty hilarious.

hahahaha, yeah the video is rad. chad played the part perfect. I wasnt a hundredth fan either until this last record. and being out with them seeing them night after night, they are a SOLID live band. but i mean its hit or miss with them.

Yeah, I've seen em live before. They were pretty good.

I don't like the mix on mosh and roll, I think the only albums I really enjoy mix wise are beauty and the breakdown and surprise, I love the mix on it's nothing personal.

I just don't get why they thought it was a good idea to get the drums buried most of the time, agree with loren about the narrow stereo field too, and about it being really stuffed.

I love the band anyway
