LA Rock of the Rock 105 radio station conducted an interview with Carla Harvey of BUTCHER BABIES at this year's Rock On The Range festival, which was held May 20-22 in Columbus, Ohio. You can now watch the chat below. Speaking about BUTCHER BABIES' plans for the follow-up to 2015's "Take It Like A Man" album, Carla said: "This summer we're gonna go home and concentrate on writing [the next record]. We get the whole summer off, which I'm really, really excited about. I'm excited to see my dog and sleep in my own bed. "I love the writing process, whether it's a book or a comic book or an album, so I'm really stoked to get in there and spend the summer doing that." Regarding the musical direction for BUTCHER BABIES' next record, Carla said: "Me and Heidi [Shepherd, fellow BUTCHER BABIES frontwoman] and all the rest of the band, of course, as well, we've been sharing notes and talking about our vision for the next album and trying some different things and bringing in some different influences that we haven't done before, and we're really excited." She continued: "I was always a huge PJ Harvey fan and a fan of Poe — if you remember Poe from the '90s. When I was growing up, I loved them. So even though I'm a die-hard, old-school thrash metal chick, I really loved some of that stuff. And I'm thinking about how we could incorporate a little bit of that kind of sound." Harvey added that BUTCHER BABIES' willingness to experiment doesn't mean that the band will abandon its core sound. "I think that you evolve and you wanna try new things," she said. "And I hope people are open to hearing new things. You know, a lot of times, people only wanna hear the same sound year after year after year from a band, and it's not fun for a band to do that, because you wanna grow and you want to try new things… And we're always gonna be BUTCHER BABIES, we're always gonna be a metal band, so those elements will always be there. Never fear! But trying some new stuff never hurts." BUTCHER BABIES' second album, "Take It Like A Man", was produced by Logan Mader, who has previously worked with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, DEVILDRIVER, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and GOJIRA.
