Carcass/Van Halen?

I was cleaning out my closet and came across the 1995 re-released CD booklet of Carcass’s “Reek Of Putrafaction” album. In the linear notes it states something along the lines of someone with or involved with the group being keen on using Van Halen riffs in the earlier shit. I’ve picked up a few Van Halen riffs in the earlier stuff, what about you guys? Any takes on this?
