Carpal Tunnel

I'm pretty sure they enter through your palm and cut something in your wrist. mmm, special. Ah, yes, they basically sever a ligamint.

Not the surgery for carpal tunnel, but i had surgery for a severed ulnar nerve, and have the 13 inch scar to prove it. Plus the scar on the elbow for a modified "Tommy John" Surgery done at the same time. Both from the same injury. Does it hurt???? Try pulling your lower lip over you head, You damn right it hurts, but only for a day or two, then it is just sore and tight.

...just to make sure i didn't have carpal tunnel, i did have the testing for it done...and that hurts...it is electric shocks in the nerves....i got to admit though, it did get rid of a lot of the pain i did have...i still have some pain at times, but i wear handeze wrist thingies and they seem to help...

I've always wondered if I have capral tunnel but I've never really done the research into it. I don't feel pain but my index & middle fingers on my right hand often get numb very easily, especially when it's cold out.

That might be an ulnar nerve problem, wait the ulnar is on the other side so it might be oh shit I can't remember the nerve on the other side of your arm. Ulnar affects the little, ring, and inside middle, the other nerve affects inside thumb, index, and index side middle finger.

I knew a guy who had it. I can give you one bit of advice from him. It's all I remember him telling me about. It is:

Don't get both hands done at the same time. You will need to get somebody else to wipe your butt.

Dave, go to a massage therapist, who specializes in deep tissue and nmt work. Tell him/her that you are experiencing hand and wrists issues. Most carpal tunnel stuff can be reduced by massage, just fair warning, the work does hurt. But you won't have near as much of an issue in the long run, and the work itself will slowly not have to be AS deep.

7 kidney stones? Urk. My first was just after ProgPower last year....incredibly good luck on the timing, since I'd have been a total wreck during the festival.

"Drink LOTS of water." :)

I don't think I have carpal tunnel...yet...but sometime during TX MadFest last year I lost partial feeling in the last two fingers of my left hand. I noticed it during the flight home. :(

I blame John, of course. :heh:

thanks, Lara
it just so happens that my GF is a LICENSED massage therapist...whoohoo

I've had carpal for years. I'm a computer guy, and I can no longer use a mouse with my right hand. I did some research into the surgery. Some folks are helped 100% by it. A lot of others found that scar tissue built up in the area and they were right back where they started in a few years. I'd check online for diaries of those that had ti done to see some real long term reviews ( I did the same with lasik before I got that done). I agree with the above that massage can be a big help.

Yeah, It was my fault, and I know what it was, cause I had it also. It was all that driving in Houston we did, especially when we went to pick up Mindflow.:hypno::hypno::zombie::zombie::hypno:

There are some good Trigger Point Therapy books out there. Get a couple from the library. They map out the pain region on the body and describe the symptoms, so that you can easily isolate which muscle, etc., needs treatment. Something to keep in mind when balking at the idea of surgery, or when surgery doesn't solve the problem.

Speaking from experience, Mr. Dave- Kidney stones are WORSE than giving birth. At least when I was having my son, I knew the pain was going to end. When I had my kidney stones (the weekend before PP last year) I ended up on the driveway at my aunts place sobbing like a little baby. It took 3 of my male cousins to be able to move me. I swear, I'd rather give birth au natural than have another kidney stone.
