Wondering what cars you Oz people have owned over the years. Talking on U.S. bbs usually entails people not recognising any of my former favourite rides.

My list goes

LC Torana 138
LJ Torana 161 (later 186 with triples - 135MPH)
UC Torana worked 202 *
LH Torana (SLR copy) worked 253*
LX Torana worked 308 * (* means owned them at the same time).
VB Commodore worked 202
WB Ute 253
HZ Wagon 253 *
LJ GTRXU1 *
UC Sunbird (I sold the last two cars in a single weekend, and needed a ride)
BJ42 Landcruiser
XF Falcon :blech:
JE Camira 7 seat wagon (anyone wanna buy it ???)
4Runner RV6

Now I want a mid 60's International Travellall - guess I won't be getting that

Vt Berlina- Couldn't afford to pay for it so i sold it for a
Worked Nissan Maxima- It fucked up on me regualry, but when I was going it was fast as all fuck
Vr Commodore

why did you sell your Xu1???

I sold the XU1 as it was a real disappontment after my old LJ 4 door.

I built the 186 for the LJ with triple 1 3/4 S.Us, waggot cam (EH S4 spec), polished Yella Terra head, 'stractors and all. Mucked aroud with the suspension (failed rego at Phillip once, as the car had to be "helped" over the rails around the inspection pit).

It went really really hard, and if I was driving interstate, I'd lean off the carbs a half turn, and get around 12km/l.

I always wanted an XU1, and couldn't afford it, so I made my own version.

Then I could get a real on (JP engine block and all). It idled really rough (intimating power), handled and went OK, but not like the one I made. Couldn't mess with it, or I'd reduce its value. "XU1" lit up the insurance company's eyes with dollar signs.

So I sold it.

Looking for a new house with a garage (well two garages, as mine is full of tools and projects) so that I can start another project.......UC666 is a nice looking Torana in town, I might make them an offer.

Funny when you think that the modern V-6 commodores run as hard as a lot of sporty cars of the 70s (Capris GTs and the like)

Fair enough

yeah they put out the same power but on less petrol, it's great. I'd never buy a car with carby, can't afford to run my commodore hard as it is.

I hate fuel injection personally.

There's nothing to fiddle with, no sense of pride as you get the mileageup without wrecking power output, no sense of dread when you see the little aluminium balls building up on sparkplug electrodes.

Take the Camira for instance. You change the plugs every year, oil every 5000km, fill it with juice, and point it at the road.

No fun, no dramas......no fun

It's one of those personality defects that makes you want to become an engineer......until you become one, and you still can't mess with stuff until it's broken.

 i don't have the motivation at the moment to even attempt fiddling with my car, it's running and I wanna keept it that way.

Ahhh, a potential discussion on engine oils..........................must refrain................................must refrain.........

My cars are as follows:

1968 BMW 1800 - piece of shit, but I got it cheap. Went ok too, until I tried to get it fixed. It was in a happy state of everything wrong balancing out everything else that was wrong, kinda like that episode of the Simpsons where Mr Burns finds out he's invincible.

1982 VC Commodore - Piece of shit, but I got it cheap. I think the transmission fell apart when I drove it into the driveway of the car lot where I traded it in for my

1989 BMW 318i Coupe - I like my car :) It's getting a bit long in the tooth now, but still goes OK.

1980 Suzuki Carry Van - pure fuckin fun mobile man..I still regret selling the little beast

VK Commodore - Peice of shit

1995 Hyundai Excel - Zippy little thing that was actually bought for the mrs' benefit

VL Commodore Executive. Good car, currently missing the front bumper and the fuel gauge doesn't work. You just have to guess how much fuels in the car.......

I want to buy a scooter though...

1980 Sigma - Shit pile - head went and it died
1976 Cortina - Awesome car. Awesome. Master cylinder went on brakes...pretty rusted out...did a swap for...
1972 HQ Belmont - I want this car again so bad. Had to go though...
1983 Honda Accord - Needed something reliable.
1996 Mazda 121 - Inherited when mum died...traded in for...
1995 EF XR6. All I can say is

My first was a 91 Ford Corsair which was a great medium sized car and a great first car, until some woman decided to pull out in front of me.

I currently have an 87 R31 Skyline Silhouette, which I love to death, and cannot wait to spend some money on when I get a job next year.
I actually went and looked at a 89 GTS Silhouette in a car yard today, fuck it was nice. I wish I had money.

85 Ford Laser hatchback - the first Jaffa  Small, but damn it was cool driving it at 120k down to Sydney

Made Brissy to Sydney in around 10 hours with that one :) Sold it to my older brother before moving to the UK. Now I have a 95 Ford Escort estate (station wagon), courtesy of my dad-in-law. Bloody good car, too :)

Never went in for revhead stuff :D

68 Corolla (serious shit box)
HZ kingswood wagon
77 Corolla Coupe (worked hiace motor, twin webbers)
79 Corolla Panel Van (swapped drivetrain from previous car)
VC Commodore Wagon (stock 202 w aussie 4 speed) this car had a freak engine and went much harder than it should have? never worked out why?
Current Car = 88 magna, 5 speed (boring but havn't lost any points since i got it!!!) Cops never notice you its good

Your names not Poida is it? :tickled:

ummmmm.....no.

(BTW when the movie "The Castle" came out, my whole family pissed themselves at the car shuffling scene).

We had to shift the HZ, to get the Torana out, to get the Renault onto the grass, so Mum could take her Pulsar to work.

Scooter ....that wouldn't really suit your need where you are though would it mate?

it would be cool to have. It would be handy around town and that but it would be a bit of a bitch going to Townsville (100km drive from where i am) on a scooter.....
