Celestion V-Type demo

A bit too smooth if that makes sense... I haven't used mine a lot to be honest. They are lacking aggression for my taste.

Like it too!

I guess to an extent it was "wrong" of Celestion to name them something that reminds us so much of V30's. These sound NOTHING like V30's, I think. Not to say that's a bad thing. They probably have more in common with Seventy 80's, but they sound WAAAAAY better than those. I wonder what they were really shooting for with these.

I agree, they don't sound like V30's. Never used seventy 80's, so no idea but I definitely can't say it sounds similar to any other Celestion speaker I own.

Another thing I'd like to add is that it sounds very mid scooped, I never used as much mids as I did right now to get rid of too much bass + treble.

Settings on the EVH 5153 channel three were like, low 12 o clock, mid 11 o clock, treble 13/14 o clock.

With other speakers I usually go for a 9-10 o clockish mid setting.

Yes it makes sense :)

I'd like to add that the Framus cab also matters and maybe isn't the best match for this speaker, because it's a bright/fizzy sounding cab to work with.

IMO a nice speaker, still have to try it out in my other cabs, but I'd prefer my creamback speakers over the V-Type. Maybe it's not fair to compare them, because they have an entire different sound + another price range.

One thing I really like however is how they sound in the room, especially how quick they react to the pick attack. It's a very pleasant feel.
