Some musicians are such fucking babies, case in point, Charles Benante of the band Anthrax. The closest this band has come to being "dangerous" is having the name Anthrax in 2001. Anyway let's see what he has to say shall we?!
CHARLIE BENANTE Says ANTHRAX Gets No Love From Other Bands - Feb. 22, 2004

ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"ANTHRAX has always been a band that gave other bands — old and new — a chance to go on tour and expose them to our audience. We've done this since the early days because we felt that this was important to music. We wanted these bands that we were into, to be appreciated by others. Let's make tonight's show a great SHOW, something special. That's the way we would think. I do not see this kinda thing anymore. Not one band will take ANTHRAX out with them. I don't understand it. The last band that showed any love was PANTERA and I love them all for it. What happened?? This game that is played now in the touring world is killing bands. Music and touring as we know it will not exist like it once did. Think about how much shit has changed since 1995. Don't you see that exposing other bands to your audience can only broaden the rock/metal scene? I'm so sick of the 'LIP SERVICE' that we all get from other bands who say, 'Oh man we gotta do shows together,' and yada yada yada. Another Ozzfest is coming and guess what band is not on it? It's hard some times to deal with this shit... it's like not being picked on a team when you were younger. I wish AMERICA was more like EUROPE, they don't discriminate — ANTHRAX are on a bunch of festivals this summer. I wish things would change over here ... I really do."

In other news, "I've been in Chicago mixing and editing the Live DVD, it's going really well. HANK and TERRY with their company 3rd Wave are doing a great job. We're creating a great package for you. We'll do a 5.1 DVD mix, special band member segments, bonus footage, Easter eggs — yeah yeah yeah, all that shit and lots more. I don't have the exact release date, we are shooting for April."

what a bitch...I love Anthrax, but one thing about Charlie is that he thinks his band changed the face of metal. I mean, Anthrax were good in the genre and still are but they NEVER did anything new in my opinion...maybe they started the Rap Metal thing but who wants to own up to that?!? They were/are a good band that never made it to Metallica or Slayer's level...why? Because they were/are riding on their coattails! Again, I love 'em too but they are a lot like Poison in the sense that there was MOTLEY CRUE, and then MC Light...POISON....well, you had MASTER OF PUPPETS, REIGN IN BLOOD, and then AMONG THE LIVING back in the day. It wasn't bad...it just wasn't better....

He makes it sound like his life's work depends on making the Ozzfest Tour. C'mon!
Anthrax has opened for Ozzy already & if they were gonna break they would have in their prime. This is another case of sour grapes & enough isn't enough for his inflated ego.

Now, I love the bejesus out of Anthrax, but Charlie whines too much. "No one asks us to tour with them, why aren't we on Ozzfest, how come our new album isn't going multi-platinum,blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!" It gets a little annoying. And i love Charlie and Anthrax, but he needs to quit his belly aching. That's probably why no one is asking them to go on tour with them.

Did you all see Charlie's letter to Rolling Stone about the greatest guitarists of all time? Granted, he made a good point that Jack White shouldn't be in there...but I still think it's got a little bit to do with the fact that none of his bandmates made the cut...

They're still trying to ride their past while doing nothing ground breaking in the present. Yeah, everyone knows who they are but there are too many other bands working harder than they do.
Wow. I couldn't have said it better. One gripe I have about Thrax is how they haven't been able to nail down a second guitarist since the midget was asked to leave. It's like they have Dimebag on every record just in hopes that some of the Pantera fans will say "I've gotta check it out." You can't rely on "guests" selling records. I'm suprised he didn't whine about not being asked to be part of the Probot record?! I also "like" Anthrax, but these days the "Only" thing that keeps me coming back is te fact that they have John Bush in the band. Otherwise I don't hink I would buy any of their stuff.
Oink! \m/
