I hadnt been keeping up on what David Chastain has been doing since Leather Leone had left the fold. I remember picking up a cassette of theirs back in the late-80's. The glory days of rock & metal. I popped it in & was floored with the sounds that were coming from my headphones! Fast forward 16 years & Chastain rolls on, but with an entire different line up than the one I was familiar with. I will say this David still has chops & the well hasnt run dry yet. While the riffs arent mind blowing, he delivers a consistent dose of thrash meets power metal. David has recruited the services of Vicious Rumors rhythm section for this record, they do not disappoint. Larry Howe & Dave Starr are still top notch players, even years after, what some might consider their prime. And theres excellent artwork provided by none other than, the one & only Travis Smith! Musically they are top of things, I think things begin to limp along, after hearing Kate Frenchs vocals for more than two tracks. She doesnt have much range & its more of a melodic growl, like a Brain Johnson type of vocal. As the record progresses, the vocals seem to drag the tracks down, they sound forced & I began to lose interest in the record. Kate French is some great "eye candy," but I dont think she has any business being on this record. This confirms the old saying that "looks arent everything." This record is for the hard core fans only, based on what I have heard.
