Check out my bands new video - modern thrash

Nice playing (and nice rig also :) ).

However, to me it sounds like 99% of the Myspace metalcore bands out there though, and i really don't like the vocals and the drums sound.

No offense it's just my point of view (especially after reading this : "Its nice to hear about something thats not black meta or some emo glam shit", while this forum has almost no black metal or emo stuff (not a fan myself), and has tons of metalcore stuff).

I dig it. Everything sounds tight and clear. The drums sound perfect for the style, wish I could get my hands on those tracks so I could make samples out of them :)

Very cool Blackmachine, btw. :kickass::headbang:

Rly cool man! I dig it... song with lots of parts... the second half is rly great! The Pads sound rly nice... or is that a guitar sound with lots of reverb? anyway... it gives a nice atmosphere! The sound is superb for me!

:kickass:

Thanks to all for giving it a listen!

There's no reverb on guitars - there is subtle synth under the 'chorus' sections, as well as the dischordant second half of the middle section.

A bit of delay on the lead guitars as well.

I really like the art direction of the video (and also the song, even if it's not my usual cup of tea)! Who's the director, and (if you can reply) how much did you pay for the vid?

It was a company called Sitcomsoldiers(.com). Video cost £1000 in total, which I think is pretty good value for money - although I don't know what the normal going rate is!

What's the guitarchain?

I saw a Diezel VH4 in the video.....:headbang:

Blackmachine guitar ----> Maxon OD808 ----> Diezel VH4 ----> Mesa Oversized 4x12.

Although I actually tracked the rhythm guitars with my Peavey 6505 on the album. Lead guitars with the VH4.

Our next album will be quad tracked with both amps though :D

It is a really low price for the final result! :worship:

That's good to know! The real version (not the compressed internet video file) is far superior in quality though.

I dont like the music at all, and I dont belive that it has much to do with Thrash(Other then the "roots".).
Im not meaning this in a way that you are a bad band, just that I personally dont like the music.
So if im going to give critics to the playing, I dont have any bad to say, other then that the singer has pretty muddy growls.

Doesn't catch me at all. sorry. sound is good though but I'm still searching for the thrash. I know that alot of bands do not want to be called "metalcore" but that's just what it sounds like to me. And I think that warehouse-thing in videos was used way to often in the past. Plus what Notuern said... so do NOT take that personally.

That's cool, I don't expect everyone to like my band!

I certainly wouldn't say we are a "thrash" band - far from it. But that song in the video is relatively pacey; tune the guitars to E and the majority of the song becomes thrash - just not in an 80's revival way. I grew up on the Metallica/Megadeth/Testaments of this world so they will always be my biggest influence, but I also love death/prog/hardcore and occasional ambient stuff as well - it's just finding a way to combine them without it sounding like an unrefined mess!

I don't mind being called metalcore though... but it is a shame it has become a dirty word these days.
