chimaira - the impossibility of reason

Heard it, think its overrated. Its amazing how they went from a nujack band to what they are now..... I bet they still do synchronized jumps and shit though. They're also touting themselves as the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal, which is completely assinine.

At best, I think they sound kinda like a Shadows Fall clone now.

I will be seeing them live with In Flames and Soilwork. The songs aren't that bad. It's a pretty heavy cd. I agree with you pest , they were pretty Nu-metal but this cd is more metal w/ solos and all.

I'll be at that show too when it comes to SF on the 18th...

I saw Chimaira after the release of the first album but I wasn't impressed at all. Then I saw them last month when they came to SF w/Lamb Of God. The new album is good - not great. The next should be even better. In three years I'd be willing to bet some of the same headbangers that frequent these Testament boards will be posting in Chimaira's UM forum. The band's not there yet but there definately going in the right direction. I think the band's 2001 tour w/Slayer was educational. Knowing how Slayer concerts usually go, they probably got used to hearing the crowd chant "SLAYER-SLAYER-SLAYER" 3 or 4 songs into their set. The crowds gave them some thick skin, but Slayer helped them with their sound. I definately hear some Kerry King influences in their new album. I like these guys.
