Man that was a tossup. Because I love Reign In Blood and South Of Heaven.
But Masters and Ride The Lightning opened doors for me in terms of not
only more extreme metal but punk and other forms of music as well. And
I would say a close third even though you did not list these 2 fine cds
was Anthrax's Spreading The Disease and Among The Living had the same
influence on me on opening doors to other music genres as well.

I cannot vote too many pairs I like:

Priest - Screaming for Vengeance / Defenders of the Faith
Metallica - Ride the Lightning / Master of Puppets
Maiden - Piece of Mind / Powerslave
Priest - Hell Bent for Leather / Stained Class
Maiden - Somewhere in Time / Seventh Son
Sabbath - Heaven and Hell / Mob Rules
Sabbath - Black Sabbath / Paranoid
Motorhead - Overkill / Bomber
Rainbow - Blackmore's Rainbow / Rainbow Rising

And I have to add to the bunch:

Bruce Dickinson - "Accident Of Birth"/"Chemical Wedding"
Angel Dust - "Bleed"/"Enlighten The Darkness"
Metal Church - "Blessing In Disguise"/"The Human Factor"
Angra - "Holy Land"/"Fireworks"
Helloween - "Keeper of The Seven Keys 1 & 2" ;)
Blue Oyster Cult - "Tyranny And Mutation"/"Secret Treaties"
Nazareth - "Malice In Wondrland"/"The Fool Circle"
Pink Floyd - "Wish You Were Here"/ "Animals"
Riot - "Thundersteel"/"The Privilege Of Power"
Rush - "2112"/"A Farewell To Kings"
Saxon - "Power & The Glory"/"Crusader"
Scorpions - "In Trance"/"Virgin Killer"
Thin Lizzy - "Black Rose"/ "Chinatown"/"Renegade" :D

NP: Stream Of Passion - 'Haunted'

Lotta good choices there, but I had to go with Metallica Ride and Master, just too fantastic!

Also would have chosen (not on list) Maiden Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind

or

Opeth Still Life/Blackwater Park

or

Bruce Accident/Chemical as someone else put above.

OH, and

Sabbath Sabbath Bloody Sabbath/Sabotage

Also, Heaven and Hell/Mob Rules is a big runner up for me....

I went for Metallica-Ride the Lightning/Master of Puppets

should have had Maiden-Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind up there, but I would have still gone for Metallica anyway

Another great double shot: Queensryche - Rage for Order/Mindcrime

That's the exact two I would have picked. Empire is the disc that transitioned them over to the more pop side of things. Promised Land got them back away from the pop side and is a really good disc. But they never got back to the kick ass stuff after O:M. IMO.

Naturally I voted for Overkill ... though I hate the drum sound on horrorscope which kicks it down on my favorites list I do love all the songs I just dont like the sound of that recording ... Though Personally I would actually vote for W.F.O./The Killing Kind

I went AC/DC *just* over Mindcrime & Empire. I reckon Empire is the 2nd best Queensryche album just coz it is so fuckin CATCHY! "Another Rainy Night (Without You)" is one of the all time best Queensryche songs and definitely my fave outside of the Mindcrime album.

Had the AC/DC been Highway To Hell and BIB, that might have been a better combination as would QR RFO and O:M. I voted (of course) for the Accept, but Metallica (RtL and MOP of course,) Dio Sabbath, Queensryche and Dio were also strong candidates. Great thread.

As for Maiden, I have a real affinity for the first two albums. 'Killers' was the first Maiden album I bought...quickly followed by the first one. I love those albums. They have a kinda raw feel, almost a punk energy/edge to them. So, those two will always be near and dear to me.
