LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler says that he was forced to sit out some of the band's shows earlier this summer because he was undergoing physical and occupational therapy for injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident late last year. When it was announced in July that Adler would not join his bandmates on a month's worth of tour dates with SLAYER, ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT and NAPALM DEATH, his absence was attributed to "unforeseen circumstances." He was replaced on the trek by Art Cruz, who has previously played with PRONG and WINDS OF PLAGUE. Earlier today, Adler took to his Instagram account to thank his fans for their support and to explain why he could not see them on the road this past July and August. "Thank you all for the overwhelming amount of well wishes in response to my current absence from the LAMB OF GOD shows," he wrote. "I'm humbled to know how many and how much you care. "I had a motorcycle accident late last year that shattered my collarbone and right shoulder and also chipped bones in my hip. While surgery corrected the broken bones and I was able to play earlier this year, I experienced some issues related to the injuries that needed to be addressed with a rigorous schedule of physical and occupational therapy which, is what I have been doing regularly since July. "I am making great progress in addition to playing/practicing every day. "Playing drums is what I do and refuse to do it poorly. "I will be back behind the kit [as soon as possible]. "Thanks again for the love! See you soon." In addition to LAMB OF GOD, Adler has played drums with a number of metal artists, including MEGADETH, NITRO, BLOTTED SCIENCE and PROTEST THE HERO. LAMB OF GOD is touring behind its covers album, "Legion: XX", which was released under the BURN THE PRIEST banner on May 18 via Nuclear Blast in Europe and Epic Records in the U.S.
