Savatage guitarist Chris Caffery, who just wrapped up the band’s return to South America with a handful of reunion shows, has shared the following message:

“Hello Savatage Legion all over the world!

We are currently about 35,000 feet in the air flying 500 mph somewhere between Chile and Peru are we headed west and now north out of Argentina.

I’m leaving South America feeling blessed. My hopes and prayers were for Savatage to return to the stage again one day. Yes I’ve played thousands of shows since we stopped playing, but the relationship between Savatage and the metal fans around the world is something that can’t be replaced. So I missed all of you. I missed traveling to see you all over the world. This past week we ventured to Chile and Argentina for the first time ever and it felt like home wherever we went.

When I get some time after I return home and catch up on all of my personal and family business, I will piece together a little bit deeper of a story. For now I am flying back home. I wish we could play again tomorrow but I like the past 23 years I know for sure that we are!

I thank all of you for sticking with us. Without you we wouldn’t have been invited back. Now we start this new chapter of Savatage and once again I feel this extremely important part of my heart and soul living and breathing strongly again.

Thank you so much to all of you who attended Monsters of Rock Brazil, Masters of Rock Chile, Masters of Rock Argentina and Espaco Unimed for making our first actual tour since 2002 so special.

Thanks to the Mountain King Jon Oliva, the O’Neill family and all at Nightcastle Management, Mercury Concerts and all of the promoters, radio, venue workers, crew…my list can and will go on and on but thank you so much for making this little kid who dreamed of touring the world and playing music the happiest person in the world right now!

My crystal ball didn’t know when Savatage would be back. But I always ‘Believed’ we would. Thank you all once again for making this a reality!

Europe we will see you soon. South America we love you and we will see you again! Please feel free to share your memories here or tag me to share them again! I’ve done my best to get to all of your posts and stories. Isn’t easy on the move but I’m doing my best!

Thank you again, Legion…we are back!”

Savatage (Johnny Lee Middleton – bass, Chris Caffery – guitars, Al Pitrelli – guitars, Jeff Plate – drums, and Zak Stevens – vocals) recently announced tour dates across Europe for summer 2025, with a mix of festival appearances and headline shows.

Says Zak Stevens: “As you can imagine, there are so many special things about these shows that are racing through my mind. We get to play a series of headline shows for the first time in over twenty years that will put us right back in front of all of the unbelievable fans who have given us so many unforgettable memories over the last three decades. Here’s our chance to directly give back to everyone who’s been there supporting us all these years! All the great festival shows are going to be off-the-charts amazing. It’s even hard to imagine the scale of excitement that’s going to take place with those shows.”

Savatage mastermind Jon Oliva expressed his disappointment at not being able to join the band for the shows, but shared his excitement, stating: “I am very excited for the guys to be doing some shows. Unfortunately, due to health issues, I will not be able to join the guys for this run. Hopefully, this is just temporary. I will continue working in the studio on new music for the future. These shows will be awesome and I will be working with them to get it all ready for you. I know everyone is going to love it!!! Me and the guys are very excited and ready to kick ass! So from me, thank you all for the support for all these years and we can’t wait to rock you!”
