Hey, I red this biography about SEPULTURA few days ago...Andreas Kisser, speaking of the split from Max Cavalera, told that they made some audition to find the new vocalist, and, above others, they were in contact with ours Chuck...is it true???BTW he points out that Chuck contacted the band...

woa...o_O

weird stuff...I can't believe it...!

What I do know, is that Chuck was sent a song from Sepultura, he was to put lyric's to it, & add his own vocal patterns, etc., or whatever he wanted.....He did it, but they chose their current singer. We'll never know, what Seputura would have evolved into, with Chuck at the helm. I think it was their loss, & Testament's gain(The Gathering album)............

Several months back in a post on this board people had said they heard Testament do a cover of Refuse / Resist from Sepultura.

The band did the track refuse/resist live I guess in between songs just playing around. I thought I would give you a small treat to those that have never heard it.

The quality is really crappy but you get the idea on how The Mighty Chuck Billy would sound like singing with the band. This line up was in 95 w/ Chuck, Eric, James Murphy, Greg Christian, and Jon Dette.

Enjoy it before I take it down ... I only have so much space on the server...

I'm glad he never joined them! He would have a huge influence on what they would sound like! but it's really OUR gain with him having Testament! i don't care whether they lose or not ! Sepultura used to be my favorite band with Max! after the split, they sucked ! so who cares!
Was he going to place Testament on hold or something if he joined Sepultura?

Ehy thanx guys for the answers!
I think that SEPS were great at the ARISE time, great lyrics, great songs and great attitude...and anyway I would have sold my soul to be present at one of the SOS bill gigs SEPS did with Obituary and SSSSSAAAADUUUUSSSS....!!!
But...I love Testament the way they are...I sincerely think that it could be a loss for every Testament fan and for every thrash fanatic out there...

Happy to receive such infos directly from dudes and grrls like u...u rule!!!!!!!!!!!
Hem c ya soon somewhere!

Hate to bring up an old thread, but since I've stumbled upon an interview where Andreas was asked about Chuck's audition, I thought I'd share:
How did Chuck Billy (from Testament) fare?

Andreas: "We definitely considered Chuck, but by the time that he delivered his tape, we had already decided to go with Derrick. So that was that. There was this kid from Italy who's voice we really liked, but he was late as well."

I haven't seen the Refuse/Resist video (see another thread about it here:http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/testament/60667-help-jog-my-memory-when-chuck-sang.html), but here's something else:

edit: yet another quote:

Who else did you audition?
"Some different people from Brazil and America, and we received demo tapes from all around the world. The most famous person to audition was Chuck Billy from Testament, but we didn't end up practising together, as Derrick was almost 90 per cent in the band at the time. We wanted a strong voice, someone who could relate to us and who was creative. Derrick has it all, and believed in what we did and it is amazing, as he is not even from Brazil."
