Hey Chris,

I was wondering if you were familiar with the scales Aaron Shearer uses for scale practice/builing techniqe? I'm pretty familiar with Segovia's scale studies, but someone mentioned the Shearer sclae studies on the Guitar Salon Int. guitar forum. I've never looked through any of the Shearer studies before but I'm a little curious. I'm wondering if their the basic closed fingering, CAGED paterns or something else. I know Segovia didn't think to highly of Shearer's method, but I I won't go there-lol.

Thanks.

From what I've seen the Shearer method is very good, and a slightly different approach to how you learn (which is good). However I've never gone through it myself, only with students. The books I've used are:
Solo Guitar-Frederick Noad
Studies books from Aquado, Sor, Carcassi, and Villa-Lobos
Kitharologus-Ricard Iznaola
and of course tons of repetoir material.

I know I didn't list these books as well as I should, but you should be able to check them out based on the info given.
Take care, Chris.
