My dad just gave me his stereo system from the early 70's so I busted out my vinyl from the 80's (yeah, BEFORE CDs) and have been buying some classic stuff on vinyl like Floyd, Camel, Yes, and Tull. The turntable he gave me needed some minor repairs, but it's a really nice one.

I have several Maiden LP's in storage, along with tonnes of Megadeth singles (Hanger 18 unplayed and with the patch, as it happens), the first three Ozzy albums, the first three Metallica albums, as well as an incredibly expensive "blue" print of Led Zep one.

Hell yea, now we are speaking my language. I don't have a lot of vinyl, only about 130, but what I do have I consider my most prized possessions. My personal favorites are my Iced Earth Alive in Athens 5LP Boxset and my Fight War of Words white vinyl, paid a lot of money for those two.

I have Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds LP from back in the day, it's worth a bit now too. I'd never invest in one now, I'm not interested in paying 1000s for a prize, but it's all good when something I got a while back for not too much suddenly becomes worth something.

Not true:

You can throw a tape across a room, and it'll play just fine.
You can step on a tape. Not too hard, but if you step just right, you can walk across the floor all on tapes.
You can get a boom box and play a tape. More convenient than an LP, more consistent than a CD.
You can shake said boom box, and the tape will continue.
Mix tapes.
Masking tapes.
Tapes cost $1 at the thrift store, and you can find badass ones if you look.
You suck.
