Has anyone used this on a record, or live? It has good reviews and it looks quite useful..

I think the triton audio fethead is a very similar product to this (and I believe cheaper as well). Was planning on picking one up before recording a band using a sm7b.

I have one that bought for my SM7b. I don't have any recording to show though. I'm happy with it though. No complaints. It does what it's supposed to do

I have the Cloudlifter. Like Ericlingus said, it does exactly what it says. It's 20ish db's of clean gain (like you'd expect from a Millennia preamp). I've used it live with an Audix OM7 with great results. It brings the Audix up to the output of a normal dynamic.

The slight pain in the ass about the Cloudlifter vs the Fethead is that you need 2 XLR cables with the Cloudlifter, but only one with the Fethead. I've wanted to get a Fethead for awhile now just for that fact alone, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I have the Fethead and it's a great little thing, adds around 20dB clean gain as was advertised so the main benefit is lower noise floor that comes in handy with all the compression...
