Alright, there's been enough horror movie threads for awhile, onto something else. :Spin:

While I don't want to say its my favorite movie genre, when I look back at my favorite flicks they are usually comedies. Name some that rule.

Clerks
The Big Lebowski
Airplane
Airplane II
The Ref (I didn't watch this at Christmas this year dammit)
A Christmas Story
Dr. Strangelove
Drawing Flies
Blazing Saddles
Raising Arizona
Sleeper

And the funniest movie ever made, past, present, and future:

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Dude, Big Lebowski owns all kinds of ass. Jeff Bridges shoulda won an Oscar. Raising Arizona is quality as well.

I like the more slapstick kinda stuff like Spaceballs. Gross out comedies like American Pie (you know you liked it), and the underrated Tomcats make me laugh. Something ABout Mary was great.

I like a lot of Brat Pack movies like Breakfast Club and Weird Science.

Heh, that's Heather's favorite comedy, along with Dead Man on Campus and Go. Go rules to the nth degree.

I like all sorts of comedy - these are some examples that have me laughing out loud:

I'm a big fan of Chris Farley so I like his SNL stuff, but I'll also admit to laughing pretty hard at Tommy Boy and Beverly Hills Ninja.

British comedy always works for me: the tv shows, Blackadder and Red Dwarf, were big when we were at college. I still find them hilarious, especially Blackadder (not so much the 1st season though).

American TV comedy that I like is: Curb Your Enthusiasm and Everybody Loves Raymond. Larry David is just brilliant, and I am so glad he's got Mel Brooks into his latest series.

My absolute fave though is Gene Wilder. The guy is just a genius. His films are my comedy faves of all time:

Stir Crazy (thanks also to Richard Pryor)
Silver Streak (ditto)
The Woman in Red
Young Frankenstein (probably the greatest comedy ever made IMO).

I agree. Gene Wilder rules. I'd also add these to that list:

Haunted Honeymoon
See No Evil, Hear No Evil (with Richard Pryor)

As far TV comedy, Seinfeld and Married With Children still stand as the two best comedy sitcoms ever created. In my eyes, at least.

Gene Wilder is amazing. He was hysterical in all those Mel Brooks and Richard Pryor movies. I like him in Blazing Saddles the best, but Young Frankenstein is a close second.

And yeah, the Dude should have won all kinds of awards. John Goodman's best role I've seen him in too.

I thought Haunted Honeymoon was good, not brilliant. See No Evil, Hear No Evil was also good, but the comedy fades out towards the end (as it does on Stir Crazy). I forgot all about Blazing Saddles - that was excellent.

If you guys ever get the chance, see The Producers (with Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel, not the new stage play). Hilarious, and very 60's ish and a little psychadelic.

Dreamlord: If you like Seinfeld, then you MUST check out Curb Your Enthusiasm with Larry David, who wrote Seinfeld.

And if anyone likes Mel Brooks, you have to see his spoof on Alfred Hitchcock called High Anxiety. Just excellent and very funny.

Dude, the play with Jason Alexander and Martin Short is so much better than the original! I know that sounds like blasphemy, but those two were so amazing on stage. I gained a whole new respect for Jason Alexander, he did this amazing recap at the end in the jail scene. Astonishing.

Oh yeah, and Mel Brooks made a cameo appearance as a Nazi soldier, it was great. :)

High Anxiety is priceless. I've had a crush on Madeline Kahn since I was about 4 years old. :erk:

Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick are coming back to the NY show. How was Martin Short? I normally hate that bug, although he did make me laugh in Innerspace. "I'm possessed!".

Funnily enough, Haunted Honeymoon is on TV tonight. I always feel a bit sad watching Gilda Radner now. :(

Martin Short was damn good, he even snuck in that (forget the character's name, the one on SNL where he had the hair horn) dance briefly. No Gene Wilder though, but that's pretty obvious.

Yeah, Gilda was great too. D'oh.
