SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR singer Corey Taylor spoke to the "Talk Is Jericho" podcast about his next book, "America 51: A Probe Into The Realities That Are Hiding Inside 'The Greatest Country In The World'", which will be released on August 8 via Da Capo Press. "It's gonna piss people off," Corey said. "It's gonna piss people off on both sides [of the political spectrum], and I don't care — I really don't. Because I'm so over the petulant rhetoric that… I'm tired of it. Whether it's people screaming 'Fake news' or 'Nazi', it's so blatantly reactionary that no one's making any sense. And I can't take it. I don't want my kids to grow up in a country like that. Especially with all the shit that's going on, whether it's the left attacking people who they think are conservatives or conservatives attacking people on the right… And [the book] is me trying to get [the silent majority of the country] to speak up and stand up and go, 'You know what? You're right. We can't let these people on both sides speak for us.'" Taylor also talked about Hillary Clinton's "likability" problem during her presidential campaign, largely believed to be due to her untrustworthiness, which she never overcame in the polls with the American public. "I think [the voters] just didn't like her personality," Corey said. "I think it's as simple as that. Everyone wants to talk about Benghazi or Bill [Clinton] or all this bullshit… The e-mails... Christ, shove that shit up your ass. Are you kidding me? Fifty million e-mails are still missing from the George W. Bush administration. Do you think ten thousand are gonna make a difference? Kiss my white ass. I'm just so disgusted." Corey went on to say that "it tells you how fucking bad Trump is, that [Hillary] still got the majority vote," despite the fact that she was perceived as a terribly flawed candidate. "It all came down to… I think it was twenty thousand votes," he said. "That's all [Trump] had to get the electorate. That's all he got to win. That was it. And it only came down to those three states. That's all it took for him to swing that. He's not gonna get it next time, I tell you that." Taylor has been vocal about his distaste for Trump for at least the past two years, telling a Des Moines, Iowa radio in a 2015 interview that he would "emigrate" if the billionaire real estate mogul became president. Corey, who is often referred to as the "Great Big Mouth" due to his outspoken views, previously said that he wasn't worried about alienting any of his fans with his comments. "That's part of being an American," he explained. "I mean, nothing drives me more crazy than when somebody says to celebrities or whatever, 'Why don't you just stick to acting?' And I'm, like, 'What? Leave politics to you? Why don't you stick to writing bad reviews in your mom's basement? Just shut your mouth. I'm just as American as you are, I have every right to say what I want, and you can shove that kind of attitude straight up your ass." Taylor published his third book, "You're Making Me Hate You: A Cantankerous Look At The Common Misconception That Humans Have Any Common Sense Left", in July 2015. The book acted as a commentary on society and pop culture in the style of the late George Carlin. Taylor's second book, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven", was published in the summer of 2013 and landed at No. 23 on the New York Times "Hardcover Non-Fiction" best sellers list.
