Cornford amps?

havent tried one, but i really like the tone on guthrie govans erotic cakes, apparently he only used two cornford amps for that whole album with no extras just a mic'd amp..

First time i noticed one, where, when Dweezil Zappa played one on the Z. plays Z. tour.
His lead tone made me search for Cornford the next day.

I saw Bossk (www.myspace.com/bossk) a few weeks back. One guitarist used a 400watt marshall power amp into a Cornford MK50. The other guitarist used a Sunn Model T, and the bassist used an Ampeg SVT iirc.

They have such an immense sound in my opinion, and lots of dynamic range. Cleans were great, as were the overdriven gainy sounds.

Guthrie occasionally teaches at my college and is fucking incredible, and as he's a pretty major Cornford endorsee, the college has a few cornfords, having only played one once, I can say that they are rather incredible sounding amps IMO.

Their defining characteristic I would say is their ability to bring out the character of your playing and the rest of the gear you're using. Plugging in a strat REALLY sounds like a strat, and playing really well sounds amazing. They're just not particularly forgiving amps, as they are just incredibly responsive and if you make any small mistakes then it REALLY shows up.

Dweezil Zappa only plays Cornford because Guthrie does :P

Hmm, interesting to hear - I'll say this, for their prices, they'd fucking better be good! Total boutique and hand-wired (even the transformers), and all point-to-point wiring. Not to mention a severe lack of bells and whistles (unlike similarly priced Engls/Diezels/Mesas), so the cost has gotta come from somewhere!

ahh guthrie, used to have lessons with him...
if only i was that good.
cornfords are pretty cool, and unforgiving as already said. cool amps though, not recorded one....

aren't they like....
ONE........MILLION DOLLARS?

No but these almost fucking are:
