Czołem!

Recently my band released new track which was mixed and mastered by me.

We used:
Mapex Q KD, 2xRT, 1xFT shells, Mapex Chris Adler SD, Sabian cymbals

Yamaha TRBX 505

LTD MH 417 (EMG 707b & EMG 817n)
Ibanez RG 1570 (EMG 85b & EMG 81n)

Drums were recorded at our reh-room, bass and guitars were home-recorded so the are 100% digital. With new material it was a natural decision for us to "search" for more fat, big, not-so-modern/crisp sound - the goal was to enhance the overall atmosphere of music.

Let me know what do you think.
Many thanks,
Gac

I really like your sound, particularly the vocals, and how you kept everything very tight despite the huge sound. Very tastefully done.

Did you use a snare sample? there are parts where the snare is very loud and then it sounds somewhat fake.

I wonder what the master buss processing was? sounds like there's a compressor making everything more punchy.

Thank you for your attention - great to gear it!

As for the snare. It's 100% natural. The differences may be caused by the way our drummer plays those parys. The "headbang" section before and under solo is enchanced by reverb-like sample to give this part a certain feel.

And as for the master. Recently I started to master using "new" way (I never really was a fan of this way) - I group whole mix into one track and then I send it to bus in different proportions. On this track I used my beloved Molot comp.

On whole master bus there was not that much processing - I believe it was an EQ, comp (very little, 1,5:1 like ratio), transient designer (also very delicate touhes) and finally there instances of LimiterNo6.

If you are interested in some further details just drop a message.

Thanks!
