count raven

the lyrics for "high on infinity" made my brain rot

i bought the album but i'm not even going to listen to it because i'm quite sure it will be physically painful to hear some deluded stoner wail about how 7 evil families controlled by the devil rule the entire world (but god will make it all right again)

when i was on my "clean vocals suck" idiotic tirade, I hated this band. i then opened my ears to clean vocals.

I love this band.

"Let The Dead Bury The Dead" from Destruction of the Void has the best lyrics.

Erik used to love this band though, right?
and I thought he used to say lyrics meant fuck all in music? or was that some other fool?

i have never held either of those two opinions

i used to probably list count raven as being a "decent" band at some point but back then i hadn't read the lyrics

good, 'cause lyrics can be pretty cool

but so can Count Raven, even when they're singin' life metal

Mammons War is pretty cool, but not that great.

I dunno man, I'm really digging it - I really like the keyboard-only title track, whereas normally I'd be annoyed by such a mid-album pace-changer. The ballad-y track 'To Love, Wherever You Are' is pretty cool too, and I love 'Magic Is...' - really comes stomping out of the gate.

Yeah, they are alright tracks. To Kill a Child rules though. It just doesn't seem as good as Destruction of the Void.

It might have something to do with the album being 68 minutes long. I'm liking long albums less and less lately. Very few albums actually can keep my attention and have something interesting the entire hour.

This pwns. Probably my second favorite thing I've found on this DOOM kick after Saint Vitus. I think I like Traditional Doom Metal the most (as well as stuff with Stoner influence). This is squarely in that area. I like some Epic Doom, but not the Funeral/Sludge/Drone stuff so much.
