Well, why not just wait to hear the music before you accuse them? You never know, it may not suck ;)

Okay I'm not much of a cradle of filth fan,but what was commented about the band selling out,I have to disagree.Yes they have a bigger label now but that does not mean that they have sold-out.People have been saying this for a long time now.Just listen to there most recent and all of there previous records I mean most of there material is relatively extreme and they still incorporate the death/black metal vocal style it may not sound that great to many but its still a distorted vocal style. the drums are excuted like many of the current death/black metal bands same goes with the guitar,I don't really see anything in there music that is actually mainstream,if they started to utilise the "groove" style in there material then I would see the mainstream intentions but I don't hear it. The only aspect of the band the seems commercial is there image. but thats about it.

Once again I'm not much of a fan if at all,but I just thought I would contribute to the thread.:)

Well, I don't know about selling out...Cradle have always been popular among metal circles. I don't really like their music much, though, it sounds too...dirty. Something about it that I find revolting; reminds me of people being raped in the mud. I like Hecate Enthroned much better.

In that case you could say that they sold out to mainstream death/black. There is, you must admit, a mainstream death and black scene. That certain style to which bands are expected to conform to be good. The molds were initially set by the likes of Cannibal Corpse and Mayhem, and the standard still hasn't strayed too far from it. I find it amusing that "tru" black metal people are obsessive about the guidelines of black metal. In that sense they are setting themselves on par with those who think screams and growls don't belong in music; the irony. :D
